Mt. Sima - Fish Lake - Mt. Sima

Price: $ 209.00 per person / ATV - minimum 2 persons

In Canada's Yukon Territory, adventures await you! The trip will start at the foot of Mt. Sima. The first stretch is easy going on a gravel trail. Then the trail will lead us through a forest of red spruce, pine, willow and poplars for about 8 km. We will reach the first sub alpine high plateau, which offers a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains, Whitehorse and the Yukon River. A short time later we will get to another small viewpoint, for the Narrow Twin Lakes, nestled between the green mountains. This beautiful spot is tempting to have a first little break. All along the way we will find Fireweed and low shrubs.

As we are climbing up Mt. Mc Intyre, we will come through alpine meadows with moss, lichen and flowers. Once we reach the summit (1597 m) a powerful visual experience awaits us. We will feel as being on top of the world, while we are viewing the Yukon in all directions. The coast Mountains to the South West, Whitehorse to the North East, Lake Laberge to the North and Fish Lake to the North West.

We will have the possibility to take a short hike to find the most magnificent viewpoints. Now, as we have seen the beautiful inviting Fish Lake, we want to get there. From the summit to the lake, about 500 m change in elevation, is an easy trail, only the last few kilometers before the lake, through the forest again, might get a little rough, but nothing to worry about. At the shore of Fish Lake we will find the most terrific spot for a lunch break – an old rustic, but cozy cabin. Here we have the choice of either jumping into the lake (so don’t forget your swim gear) or warming up at the fireplace.

After the break we can find out the dependability of the ATV, by going a short distance through the shallow part of the lake. Then we will travel along an old hunters trail through the bushes to get back on to a gravel trail, which goes up the mountains again. This trail offers to go a little faster, or to inhale the beauty of the landscape. Now the trail goes downhill again, towards the copper valley.

Before we reach the bottom, we will turn to the right into the Trans Canada Trail. This trail has some challenges, but gone so far yet, everybody has the skills to do it. This part of the trail is narrow and goes through dense vegetation, and we will have to cross log bridges, until we reach a quiet little spot above a small lake. From here it is only a few more kilometers through the bushes and frequently changing landscape, back to the starting point at Mt. Sima.

Don’t forget your camera, to take unforgettable memories of an amazing day.
